Our Beliefs
At First Baptist Church of Joaquin, we hold to the following core beliefs that shape our faith and guide our ministry:
  • The Bible
We believe the Bible is the inspired and infallible Word of God. It is our ultimate guide for faith, practice, and doctrine. We affirm the Bible as the authoritative scripture for all areas of life.

  • The Trinity
We believe in one God, eternally existing in three persons: God the Father, God the Son (Jesus Christ), and God the Holy Spirit. These three are co-equal and co-eternal, each fully God, yet there is only one God.

  • Jesus Christ
We believe in the deity of Jesus Christ, His virgin birth, sinless life, atoning death, bodily resurrection, ascension into heaven, and His promised return. Salvation is found only in Him, through faith in His finished work on the cross.

  • Salvation by Grace through Faith
We believe salvation is a gift of God's grace, received through faith in Jesus Christ. It is not earned by works, but is freely given to all who repent of their sins and place their trust in Jesus as Lord and Savior.

  • Baptism by Immersion
We believe that baptism is an outward expression of an inward change. Baptism by immersion, following a person’s profession of faith in Christ, is an important step in obedience to Jesus’ command and a public testimony of the believer's identification with Christ’s death, burial, and resurrection.

  • The Church
We believe the local church is the body of Christ on earth, and it exists to worship God, spread the gospel, and serve the community. The church is composed of all believers who have placed their faith in Jesus Christ and are baptized into His name.

  • The Lord’s Supper
We believe in the observance of the Lord's Supper (or Communion) as an act of remembrance, celebrating Christ's sacrifice on the cross. We believe it is a sacred practice for baptized believers to partake in the bread and the cup in reverence and gratitude.

  • Evangelism and Discipleship
We believe that every believer is called to share the gospel of Jesus Christ and make disciples of all nations. We are committed to spreading the message of salvation through both words and deeds.

  • The Holy Spirit
We believe that the Holy Spirit dwells within every believer, empowering them to live a Christ-like life, equipping them with spiritual gifts, and guiding them into all truth.
